The special effects were laughable, but other than that I liked it. Spoilers ahoy.

I didn't actually tune in for that guy who played Lucas Luthor--I like angel stuff. Enough that I actually kept a running tally of things I liked and didn't like.

Stuff I liked:

Angels with light sabers! This made me giggle. Ok, flaming swords are pretty much the original light sabers, but still!

Lucas (I not only can't remember the actor's name, I can't remember his character name in this, either--which is hilarious, because I can remember the dog's name was Gabriel) was actually pretty likeable in this. I liked his backstory and his relationship with his foster parents and especially his relationship with his little brother.

The general angel plot was ok--not fantastic, but not horrible.

Lucas talking to the animals--especially to Gabe--was really fun. I thought Gabe got a little too smart as the show went on, but the first ten minutes or so of Gabespeak was just perfect. Lucas should have been able to bring his dog with him, dammit!

The runes that make you invisible (if you're an angel) were a cool touch.

Stuff I didn't like:

The laughable special effects, and the whole final fight scene, which was way too long

The woman angel head of the Powers--I liked the character, but that actress was BAD.

Since when has age 18 been an age of mystical powers? And why would someone suddenly come into their powers in that way? It didn't seem very believable to me.

Almost killing the dog. It was cheap, because shows like this NEVER kill the dog.

Stuff I'm ambivalent about:

The high school characters. The nerd boy and potential girlfriend seem sweet, but the wrestler dudes are all total stereotypes. And I assume they didn't spend this much time establishing these characters if we're not going to revisit them sometime.

The theology. "Creator," I liked. Lucas as angelic redeemer...I'm not so sure about.

So it's not going to be a show, really, but a recurring miniseries?

but the wrestler dudes are all total stereotypes.

Actually, I thought Lucas's wrestler-buddy best friend was a total closet case, and the actor looked vaguely familiar.

And flaming... swords! Yeah, there's some subtle symbolism for ya. ;)

I really enjoyed Fallen. I thought it had an interesting story and I thought the writing was pretty good. The final fight was a little long. But I liked that it had a good balance of things, fighting, drama, mystery, humor, romance etc. I loved the relationship between Aaron and his family, especially the little brother. I remember his name b/c the little brother's first and most repeated words were Aaron...Angel.

Maybe it's going to be a limited series. They seem to be the trend when networks are cautious about a new show. I watched for the angels and for Paul. I've liked him ever since Wolf Lake. Have you watched Hex?

I don't get the cable channel that Hex is on, so I've never seen it.

Aaron! That was his name. Yeah, you would think I would have remembered "Aaron...Angel," but somehow that just did not stick in my head.

I looked on their website, and apparently the miniseries isn't until next summer. Bummer, dude! I thought it was miniseries this summer, then real series next summer if it did well.

I know. Can't believe we have to wait until next summer. My sister and I were very excited and ready to dive in to Fallen. I also thought it was a let's see how well it does and go from there thing.
