The state of me, and recent TV

I had to have emergency oral surgery yesterday, to remove a tooth with a huge abscess (root canal failure). The procedure itself went fine (nitrous oxide is really something--I've never had it before, and now I kind of want it for all my hard dental procedures), and so far I haven't had too much pain, so that's something. However, I am taking the morning off work because of this, so that's an upside, I guess. So I got to catch up a little on TV.

This show remains the most delicious crack EVER. The acting is so good I don't even care about ridiculous plot contrivances (there were Druids in the 16th century? Writing in Norse runes? RLY? Oh, and Quaker women regularly wore elaborate gowns and entered into arranged marriages with aristocrats? SRSLY?) because I'm enjoying the ride so much.

I've always thought Orlando Jones was attractive, and I'm really enjoying his tweets about the show, but HOLY HELL they should let him play action star all the time, because he was seriously, seriously hot taking down those demonic Nazis Hessians. Dayum. And in general I'm just really happy that Irving is completely in on the truth, now, so that Team Witnesses has some serious allies. Also, I'm definitely shipping Irving/Jenny--they make a great team.

I was also excited to see the return of poor resurrected John Cho. I felt so bad for him, that he is past redemption now but still wants to help Abbie, and I completely loved how he used his alliance with Moloch to save Ichabod from the horseman.

Meanwhile, Abbie teaching Ichabod the fist bump was the cutest thing ever, but I also loved how she kept dragging him back to sanity when he was being played by Death in the interrogation scenes. I love their friendship so much.

I also watched Arrow.

I don't think I've posted anything on Arrow this season, but I am really, really loving everything about it--they've even managed to make the island material actually interesting with the introduction of Sara Lance. I think what I'm enjoying most about season 2 is the fact that everything that happened in season 1 had serious consequences, that we get to see played out. For example, I knew Moira was going to get out of jail, but I really liked that they kept her there for a significant part of the season, and that she had remorse for her actions and that her actions had ramifications for her relationship with Thea. Of course, her trial was ridiculously short, but I really love the fact that Malcolm Merlin was responsible for her acquittal and now she may be caught up in his web again, because where would this show be without a good conspiracy? (I know we're getting other conspiracies with that politician and the mad scientist on the boat, but while I will enjoy those, they seem kind of comic-booky to me, whereas somehow "The Undertaking" seemed a lot more real to me).

I'm also completely loving the Oliver-Felicity-Diggle relationship this season, from the very first episode where Felicity and Diggle went to get Oliver off the island, to last week when they teamed up to save Diggle's ex (and it was about time we got a Diggle-centered episode! and showed Oliver really did have his back), to this week, when we saw that Oliver will break his vow not to kill to save Felicity. I mean, I wish they had found a different way for him to save her, but he's still not quite Green Arrow yet, so I'm ok with the fact that he's still occasionally slipping into his old ways to save someone he loves. And it made his regret more realistic, because he'd been doing such a good job of avoiding killing up til now.

I'm really enjoying Sleepy Hollow, too. I think I may have got my daughter hooked on it, also.

Totally agree.

Oops. Once again, I've commented without signing in. You'd think after so many years of using LJ, I'd have figured it out by now. :)
