My exciting travels

I was originally supposed to go home today, but I've been persuaded to stay in San Francisco a couple more days because (a) my friend ended up having to work Thursday and Friday, so I haven't had a chance to actually spend time with her and (b) it is supposed to be 104 freaking degrees at home today, whereas here the high is going to be something like 68.

I actually haven't been doing very much since I got here, other than recovering from that 25 hour day when my flight was delayed in Denver. But I had a lovely lunch Thursday with romanyg, and I'm supposed to go see Transformers tomorrow with clari_clyde. Yesterday I mostly caught up on sleep, though when I finally got up I wandered around Noe Valley and the Castro looking at shops and challenging myself to walk up hills. (My calves are so sore today!) And today my friend and I bopped around Berkeley--I was so good and only bought two books at Moe's and absolutely nothing at Good Vibrations, which may be a new record for me--and we had lunch at Cafe Gratitude, a vegan raw food place, where all the food has completely ridiculous New Agey positive affirmation names like "I am cheerful" and "I am magnificent." Despite that, the food was very good.

My best book find of the week wasn't actually at Moe's, it was at "A Different Light" yesterday: Kittredge Cherry's Jesus in Love , which is really hilarious Jesus porn (at least the bit of it I've read so far). It's badfic on an EPIC scale.

Here is the beginning of chapter one:

"Let's make love," the Holy Spirit whispered while I was praying.

Each of us was both Lover and Beloved as everything in me found in the Holy Spirit its complement, its reflection, its twin. We took turns switching roles and switching genders. The momentuim of reversing polarities stretched me further and further until I was almost overcome by the force that we had generated.

"Marry me, Jesus," the Holy Spirit sighed.

Unprecedented pleasure accompanied this most unexpected proposal. When the Holy Spirit kissed my mind and heart, I also felt a tangible touch run down the inner spine of my physical body. Enjoyable arrows of energy shot toward my crotch, concentrating power in my genitals. I had gotten into this situationh by praying over and over, "Your will be done." Now I stopped and became silent. I was stunned that my prayer life had aroused my body sexually, and I was worried what might happen next.

I am expecting hours of epic, blasphemous badfic fun from this.

Too bad you weren't in town last weekend -- I only get up to SF about once or twice a year!

Ah, well. Maybe we'll meet one of these days. Glad you're having a good time! ;)

I know! I figure I can entertain people for weeks just posting snippets of it, or read it whenever I'm in the doldrums just for the hilarity.

Yeah, it was a fun movie. Pretty formulaic, but I had a good time.

I had a fantastic trip, but I have to say I'm really glad to be home.
