Heroes is the first premiere I've seen this season that's lived up to the hype.

Although I am drawn into shows by the pretty (and damn, Mohinder is a PRETTY PRETTY man), I stay for the characters and the concepts, and right now I'm really really drawn into both for this show. I loved pretty much every character, though I have a special fondness for Niki (the stripper with her evil mirror twin) and Hiro (the Japanese scifi fan who can teleport). Everybody was a little two-dimensional (Mohinder's speech at the beginning was especially full of platitudes), but I put that down to pilot-itis. I love the concept so very much, and I can't wait to see where it goes.

In less squeeful news, though I have bent over backwards (including holding meetings on weekends and annoying nights) to try to avoid having an important meeting scheduled for the same time as the Smallville premiere, of course somebody had a personal crisis that absolutely necessitated moving a meeting to Thursday night at 8. Dammit! I have two friends TIVO-ing in case my VCR breaks or something, but it's not going to be the same. It means I won't even be able to read people's commentary until Friday night. ARGH!!

I love Super 'Hiro'. He's got the right amount of geek and nerd. *grins*

Besides, he's adorable, too.;)

Oh, completely adorable. And what totally cracked me up was his conversation with his friend--I can't tell you how many long-suffering friends I have like his friend, who have put up with my geekery just like that (though unfortunately I *can't* bend time and space).

It was fun, wasn't it? I watched it grudgingly cause a bunch of people on my flist had been talking about it, and I really liked it. Definitely excited to see where they'll go with it :)

Well, I was skeptical too because many of the very hyped show ::cough Studio 60 cough:: did absolutely nothing for me, but Heroes definitely lived up to its reputation.

You didn't like Studio 60? I watched the second episode last night after Heroes, and downloaded the first one today, and I think I'm glad I watched the 2nd one first - I enjoyed it more ;)

I think I missed most of the new season hype for all shows this year. Aside from what my flist reports on, I don't know much of anything about what's starting!

I think Studio 60 is fine, but I really have limited TV viewing time this year, so I seriously doubt it will make the cut. It's the sort of thing I would watch if I had the time and nothing better to do, but my whole flist seems to be completely addicted to it, and I'm just kind of...meh. I don't think it's nearly as good as West Wing or Sports Night, and I'm not really interested in any of the characters.

Hey, would you happen to have a link to Heros eps download, by any chance?
Sep. 26th, 2006 02:53 pm (UTC)
Or Studio 60?

Um, I think I heard somebody saying something about NBC putting these episodes on their website, so you might try there. But I never download anything--I have dial-up--so I'm not really a good person to ask. If you live in the U.S., though, NBC is re-running Heroes tonight and then again Friday night, I believe.

I watched it last night and was held spellbound!!! Niki and Hiro are awesome!!!! They just might be my faves also!

Hiro is just adorable!! Though Niki's kid is a close second. I wonder if he has powers, or if he's just a genius?
Sep. 26th, 2006 05:45 pm (UTC)
Maybe being a genius is his super power!!! However, I am super curious about Niki's superpower!
Sep. 26th, 2006 05:48 pm (UTC)
I think maybe it's a Jekyll and Hyde thing?
Sep. 26th, 2006 05:50 pm (UTC)
Maybe ... but that kind of superpower might freak me out ... you know?
Sep. 26th, 2006 06:16 pm (UTC)
Well, I think it's good that not all the superpowers are necessarily powers you would want to have. It makes it seem slightly more realistic to me. One thing I really loved about the premiere is how realistic people's reactions to their powers were--they either freaked them out, or freaked out the people around them.
Sep. 26th, 2006 06:18 pm (UTC)
Yeah, I guess ... I never thought of it that way .... their reactions were really genuine! I really can't wait for the next episode!!!
