Ever get a subscription notification from A03 and click on it and then wonder why the hell you started reading that story in the first place, much less subscribed to it? (Not that this happens to me almost daily or anything.)

This entry is crossposted at http://norwich36.dreamwidth.org/254599.html, but feel free to reply at either place.

I've so been there.

I keep getting notifications for a story that, I swear to god, is at this point almost 60K words of NOTHING EVER HAPPENING AT ALL. And yet--I keep reading, waiting, because if something ever DOES ACTUALLY happen? It COULD be pretty cool :-/.

Hee! I've definitely been there. I swear, I keep vowing that I'm going to stop reading WIPs, but then I'll be bored and something will look really interesting, and I succumb to temptation.

wip's are such dangerous things + readers can be capricious.

like, i can be in a mood and a fic just captures my mood in that specific moment and then i'll read it again some other time and i'm like WITAF

or i'll read a fic and then a chapter will come along and the writer will just go somewhere i am completely unable to follow and then it's like a relationship turning sour and you've learned something you can't unlearn and it will never be the same lol

Yes, very true--sometimes a story starts off wonderfully and then goes to a very bad place.
